Models Own Hed Kandi Balearic Cool Nail Polish Swatch & Review

Finally the last of the Models Own Hed Kandi Collection- this is Balearic Cool which is a creamy bright (but not neon) turquoise blue. It's very pretty but not the sort of color I usually go for! But I can see it would look great maybe as a pedi with a bit of a tan. This one was on the thin and sheer side, I used 3 coats here (I never have the patience for any more coats!) and you can still see a bit of VNL.

This lasted about 3 days before it started to show tip wear which is about normal for me. It dries to a semi shiny finish so you'll need a topcoat for the glossy look. Overall I've been really impressed with this collection, both on formula and colors.

Models Own Hedonist Hed Kandi Swatch & Review

Models Own Hedonist Nail Polish is a very, very (almost neon) bright coral red. This is from the Hed Kandi Collection and is probably my favourite of the bunch- I do have a weakness for anything coral! This is highly pigmented and you could probably get away with 1 coat if you were careful but I used 2 here for good measure. Like a neon this dries to a rubbery, matte finish so you need a topcoat to get a shiny finish.

I got 3 days wear from this before I noticed any tipwear (although if I didn't use topcoat it started to chip after just 1 day). Formula wise this was a bit thicker than most polishes but it didn't make any difference to its application in any way.

Models Own Disco Heaven Hed Kandi Nail Polish Swatch & Review

Models Own Disco Heaven Nail Polish is a gorgeous mix of gold and turquoise/blue small glitter (the aqua is more noticeable in real life). It goes on surprisingly opaque for a glitter- this is 3 coats but you could also wear it layered over a different nail polish. I think the addition of the aqua glitter is what really sets it apart from your standard gold polish, I don't have anything else like it in my collection. Being a glitter this dries very quickly but the payoff is that it's a pain to remove (best method is to soak a cotton pad in acetone remover and hold onto the nail for a good 45 seconds).

I found this lasted 4 days before I noticed any tip wear. It's also worthwhile using a topcoat to give a smoother, glossier finish (but this isn't particularly gritty as glitters go).

Models Own Annalise's Pink Hyperbrite Lipstick Swatch & Review

This is the last of my Models Own Hyperbrite lipsticks, this one is in Annalise's Pink which is a medium blue based neon pink. It's much cooler in tone than Pink Hawaiian which I reviewed earlier. This has the same semi matte finish as the others and is also very pigmented.

This is very much your classic bubblegum pink, a bit like Mac's Candy Yum Yum. It is highly scented with a sort of sweet fruit perfume which does linger for a while on the lips. As it is a matte finish I don't find them very hydrating but it's not as drying as say Russian Red by Mac. I get about 4-5 hours wear from this with no base before it starts to fade off.

Models Own Beach Party Hed Kandi Nail Polish Review & Swatch

Models Own Beach Party nail polish from it's collaboration with Hed Kandi is a neon orange, I haven't seen this color around much, it's far paler than most neon oranges on the market, it's almost somewhere between yellow and orange. I think this would look much better on tanned skin so I might keep this one back for the summer.

This went on surprisingly opaque, I used 2 coats here and I can't see any VNL. I get about 3 days wear on average from Models Own nail polishes. It dries very quickly and almost matte so you'd need to use a top coat for a shiny finish. You can see my review for the Hed Kandi polish in Ibiza Mix here

Models Own Orangeade Hyperbrite Lipstick Swatch & Review

Models Own Hyperbrite lipstick in Orangeade is a neon orange, it's fairly neutral in tone and doesn't pull too red or pink. This one is sheerer than the other one's I've reviewed so far but does still hold a lot of color. These are meant to be matte but I find they are much more of a semi-matte as they do have a slight sheen. I think these lipsticks are really fun pops of color and for a pretty good price point.

The texture is quite waxy so they do tend to last a good while, about 5 hours on me before looking a bit faded. They also have quite a strong sweet fruity scent but it doesn't last long after application. Given that they are matte they don't provide much hydration but at the same time they're not as drying as some other mattes. For reference Bobbi Brown's Atomic Orange and Mac Morange are much more pigmented and opaque in coverage.

Models Own Ibiza Mix Hed Kandi Nail Polish Review & Swatch

Fresh back from my trip to the UK and the first of my many beauty purchases I've got to review is this- the Models Own Ibiza Mix nail polish from their Hed Kandi Collaboration. It's a really pretty one made up of bigger turquoise, lilac, gold and copper glitter pieces and gold, pinkish and bright blue smaller glitter bits in a clear base. This is one of those polishes that you need to dab on to get an even placement of glitter and you do need to wait until each coat is dry before attempting the next, otherwise you can accidentally move them around.

I used 3 coats here and I have pretty good coverage, but I think this was mainly designed for layering over other colours. As with most glitters this dries very quickly, I haven't used a top coat here but I think adding one would give it a nice glossy shine. I get about 5 days wear out of these, the glitter seems to hang on to my nails like glue so removal is a bit of an effort (I think the key is to soak a cotton pad in remover and press against each nail for a good 45 seconds then wipe off). The only thing I'm not so keen on is the smell, don't get me wrong- nail polish never smells good but this one seems particularly noxious! For those who are curious, this is nothing like Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday or one of the many imitations as it doesn't have the rainbow of glitters.

Models Own Hyperbrite Pink Hawaiian Lipstick Swatch & Review

Models Own Pink Hawaiian Hyperbrite Lipstick is a medium hot pink. In the tube it looks more warm toned but on my lips it pulls a lot more fuchsia- it reminded me a lot of Nars Schiap, Mac Quick Sizzle and so on. It's pretty pigmented and I can get full coverage in a couple of swipes. This one is meant to be matte but I find it has a very slight sheen to it and isn't particularly drying. It also has quite a strong fruity scent but soon disappears after application.

I find this lasted on me a good 5 hours due to it's slightly waxy texture, faded nicely and didn't leave that weird ring on your outer lips after eating. Overall a thumbs up for this one!

Models Own Indian Ocean Beetlejuice Nail Polish Review & Swatch

Models Own Indian Ocean on left 2 fingers, Essie Lapis of Luxury topped with Indian Ocean on right 2.

This is from Models Own latest collection of Beetlejuice nail polishes. It's called Indian Ocean and is a blue duochrome which flashes pink with a slight lilac tinge. It's very pretty and glowy on the nail. I do find it on the sheer side and you might find it hard to achieve the colour in the bottle- I used 3 coats here and didn't get any where near opaque coverage. However, this is a stunning shade for layering.

I get about 3 or so days before tip wear starts to appear. I also find the drying time on this isn't as quick as some other shades so a quick dry topcoat would come in handy. Overall this is a really pretty colour and I don't have anything quite like it in my collection so I'm sure it will sell very quickly so be sure to check it out if you think it might be something you'd like.

Models Own Flaming Red Hyperbrite Lipstick Swatches & Review

This is one of the new Hyperbrite lipsticks from Models Own. It's a uber bright red with a satin-matt finish and orange undertone. Very pretty and comfortable to wear as it doesn't dry out lips as some matte lipsticks can do.

Coverage is pretty good, it's opaque in a couple of swipes and lasts about 4-5 hours on me. As it wears off it leaves behind a pretty stain which is always a bonus. It has a very slight fruity scent but I can't detect it for long once applied.

Models Own Tropical Sun Beetlejuice Nail Polish Review & Swatch

Just launched from Models Own is this beautiful nail polish named "Tropical Sun" which is a coral peach and gold duochrome. It's one of those lit from within type polishes so is very glowy and has a small amount of silver glitter. You mainly see the coral/gold flash in the sunlight but it's by no means flat in non direct light. It also has a glossy finish (but I add topcoat for extra shine).

It's not a one coater but I can imagine it would be pretty layered over another polish too. I did 3 coats here plus topcoat which I think is about right. I usually get a good 3 days wear with Models Own before I get any tip wear. For me this is most definitely a must-have for the summer!

Models Own Pink Sorbet Nail Polish Swatch & Review

It's no secret I love nail polish, the brighter the better in my opinion. I tend to buy all brands from luxury lines to drugstore brands. One of my favorite brands is Models Own, they make good quality polishes, well priced and with a huge range of colours.

This one in particular is Pink Sorbet, it's a neon pink with lots of pearl. Here I'm wearing 2 coats which is fine but you could go for 3 to make it perfect. As with most neons it dries pretty quick and to a almost matte finish so you'll need a topcoat to make it super shiny.

Wear time really depends on the individual. I'm very heavy handed and have never found a polish that doesn't chip within 2-3 days. This wears on me similar to everything else like Chanel, OPI etc....
